Social Studies
Through our social studies program, students demonstrate an understanding of different cultures and communities around the world. They will realize that families exist in all communities and societies, and have different beliefs, customs and traditions. They will recognize the roles, rights and responsibilities of being a good citizen and develop an awareness of current events that affect their lives. A variety of skills are used to understand the reasons for studying geography and history and are introduced to some of the different methods and tools used in these studies. Our strategies include reading, group discussion, brainstorming, research (including primary documents), document-based questions, map and globe skills.
